Saint of the Month!!!

St. Brigid Of Ireland 

Saint Brigid of Ireland is not like your average saint. I`m not so sure how much of her story is true or is legend, but we do know she was very devote in her faith and compassionate to others! Here are a few cool stories and facts about her!

Stories.
One day Brigid went to king Leinster and asked for land to build a convent on. She said the place they were standing on was perfect as it was near the woods. Conveniant. They would be able to collect wood and berries! It was also near a lake and the soil was fertile. The king laughed at her and refused. St. Brigid prayed to God to soften the kings heart. She than asked if she could at least have as much land as her clock could cover. Seeing her clock was small, he laughed and said go ahead!! She got four of her companions to spread the clock out across the land. As they did, the clock got longer and longer, covering most of the land. The king, realising she was in God`s favour, aloud her to have the land.

 Another story is when a man asked for her hand in marriage. Brigid, who had already vowed to live her life for God refused, but told the man that when he returned home he would find a beautiful maiden waiting. Long behold, he did!!

The most bazaar one is when people got mad at her because she vowed to live a life of chastity. A man said to her, `` The beautiful eye which is in your head will be betrothed to a man weather you like it or not.`` In reply Brigid put her finger in her eye and said, `` here is the beautiful eye for you. I deem it unlikely that anyone will ask you for a blind girl.`` Her eye did miraculously heal later on.

Cool Facts!!!

•  I heard that Brigid described heaven as a lake of beer.
• It is said when she wished or predicted something it came to pass. 

Her feast day is February 1!
